With 50-pounds of draw weight range in 6 different limb configurations, and six inches of draw length adjustment, the Carbon Spyder FX is a bow that can fit just about anyone able to afford the bare bow price of $1399. The DFX cams also have the ability to be shot with dual string stops, or an optional limb stop to firm up the back wall even more than it is with the string stops. The official axel-to-axel measurement is a compact 28-inches, but with the new DFX cams and UltraFlex limb combination, the string angle is closer to last year's Carbon Spyder ZT 30 from 2015. If you want a bow for life, get a bow from a brand that warranties their work for the bow's lifetime, and not just the original buyer's lifetime of use.īeyond that, the new Evolution from Obsession made me so mad that I bought a Lethal Force 2, which the Evolution replaced. They all have transferable lifetime warranties. There is one thing that all these have in common. So I looked elsewhere and looked into Obsession, Elite, New Breed and Athens. I decided to buy a bow out of the blue to fulfill a lifelong dream (I'm 29) having no experience, and I tried all the big four bows. Please do yourself a favor and look into Obsession Bows. I don't even shoot at anything over 25 yards.Įdit: please don't try to shoot deer at 65 yards. I never would have taken that shot with just my recurve. I've seen guys down deer at 65 yards (ridiculous) with the carbon element, which was the hgih-end bow last year or the year before. With the higher end hoyt compounds though, you're probably able to take riskier shots because you have less limitations. My hoyt buffalo probably doesn't shoot past 200 FPS but it kills things just fine. Some bows are shooting at a crazy 330-350 FPS. The higher end bows are also more forgiving in terms of errors in form, especially in the heat of the moment, when you have to be smooth and take weird angles. The higher end bows feel more like target bows in terms of smoothness but in compact dimensions that focus more on speed, noise suppression, and size. The higher end bows are going to be better in most regards. The things hunters look for are reliability, speed, noise, weight, vibration, and draw cycle.
